God Never Condemns I was driving home listening to the Christian radio station in my hometown. The two compères were asking the listening audience to ring in about times when they were embarrassed or put in a difficult, awkward situation and what they did about it. How did they respond? Someone rang in and described the time they went on a work picnic and were trying to make an impression with their new boss. Unknowingly they sat on an ants nest and ended up doing the “ants in my pants” dance, trying to dislodge a

God’s Grace to Help Us It was a lovely afternoon birthday picnic at a park. Abigail, my six-year-old granddaughter, came up to myself, my daughter Melissa and her husband Scott sitting over to one side of the delicious food spread out on tables. Abigail had a paper boat plate in her hands full of potato chips. As she approached, she said to Scott, “Uncle Scott, I’ll give you a chip if you give me your chair.” Uncle Scott replied, “Nope. But you can sit on my lap.” As she happily climbed up onto Uncle Scott, who is 6 f

Do Not Stress Don’t you hate it when you miss bin day? (The day when the city council empties your own personal house bin once a week.) Especially when you’ve had extra rubbish from family being over and the bin is full! Then also it won’t get emptied now for two weeks because it is on a two-week cycle. Uggh!! This is where I become very inventive and really pedantic about using the recycling bin for all the recyclable items. And the extra strength to squash down items or use my art of packing really well. So

He is Our Hope! I’ve been tired before but not tired like this for a long time. You know when your brain is not working well. You keep forgetting things, forgetting appointments not because of old age but because your brain is a little bit fried and does not know what day it is. That is jetlag. I was sitting in a prayer service the other day and was nodding off badly quite a few times. I was trying to stay awake but every few seconds felt my eyes close and my head start falling to my chest. It was time to rest.

Prayer before Panic Sometimes you feel so alone. Even in amongst a crowd, you can often feel isolated. As if no one knows what you are going through, how you are feeling, how you don’t seem to have any support. At these times I can tend to isolate myself even more and feel like woah is me. But I’ve been learning to lean into God more on those days. To get more of the nourishment I need from Him for I have been learning more that: “He is here, and I am here with him.” That His presence lives within me and is so clos

Knowing Ourself I had flown over 2 flights for 12 hours and when I hobbled off the plane because my body was all stiff, as soon as I could, I was crawling into bed. I recognize in myself now that I need a “down day” if I have travelled a bit the day before. I know myself. But more than knowing my physical body over the years, because of my relationship with Jesus, I have come to know my heart and recognize my flaws. It states in the book of Psalms: Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxio

Sharing Jesus Bruce and I have been travelling, meeting new friends, old friends. Catching up where possible with some Impacters groups, those part of our spiritual family. As I meet more people from different backgrounds I am reminded of Paul the Apostle where he shares in 1 Corinthians 9 that he adapts himself, his argument, his way of sharing with people so that those particular listeners can hear the gospel. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (though I am not free from God’s law but

Who are you? One of my granddaughters asked me an important question the other day. What am I good at? (She had been reflecting upon her sporting prowess… she thought she had none.) I answered her honestly. I told her what I see in her. Have you ever wondered who you are? What about who you are in Christ? What’s my purpose? Why am I here? Firstly, we are here because out of His great love for us Our God created us. We all have a purpose to love God in return and to share the good news about what Jesus has do

The Lord is My Rock! I look around, I feel in the room great love. As I continue to listen to the conversations of things that happened in the past and store up those stories in my memory bank, I rejoice. As I hear and get involved in the sharing from family members of their life situations today, I pray. As people share their dreams of when they were young and where they are now, I ponder. I’m in a time visiting with my immediate family for a few weeks. This does not often happen due to me living in another state.

I Don’t Want to Be Lukewarm It is freezing today! I just can’t warm up. Huddled in blankets with a small cough and a small squeaky voice. It comes and goes as I try and have conversation with my family. It’s not sore anymore but progressively over a few hours it lost its volume. As I was trying to warm my physical body I turned to the scriptures to warm my spiritual body. I don’t want to be lukewarm (and be spewed out of Gods mouth.) ‘I know your works; you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were either cold or hot.
